Elsa Perettiis an Italian jewelry designer. She is one of my favorite mass produced jeweley designers.
Elsa Peretti was born in Florence, Italy, May 1, 1940, the daughter of a well-to-do Roman family.Educated at Volbicela School in Rome, with a diploma in interior design. She moved to New York in the 1960s, where she began designing jewelry for a handful of top designers, including Halston, Oscar De La Renta, Giorgio di Sant’Angelo and Tiffany.
Ms. Peretti joined Tiffany in June 1974.Since 1974, Peretti has been a featured designer for Tiffany & Co. with designs such as the Open Heart pendant and Diamonds by the Yard.Her inspiration came directly from nature:bones, beans, hearts, apples, scorpions, snakes, teardrops and shells.Ms. Peretti’s designs are rendered in a variety of materials. She keeps her materials mostly in the realm of precious metals rather than plated metal.She is famous for her works in sterling silver.
